Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Ruff Stuff Dog Care
What if my dog doesn't get along with other dogs?
Not a problem! We can take your dog out alone or in a smaller group. Please reach out to discuss your dog's specific needs — there is always a way.
Does my dog need to be neutered?
I prefer dogs to be neutered for group activities, as it helps maintain harmony in the pack. However, this isn't always possible, so please get in touch to discuss your situation.
What happens if you're on holiday when I need boarding?
I work with a trusted network of fellow dog carers. If I'm not available, I can recommend someone reliable who meets my standards of care.
Can you help with training or behaviour issues?
While I'm not a professional trainer, I've worked with many dogs over the years and can help reinforce good habits and socialisation. For serious behavioural issues, I can recommend qualified trainers.
What areas do you cover?
I'm based in Brentwood, Essex, and cover the surrounding areas. For day care and walking, I typically work within a reasonable driving distance for pickup. For boarding, I can arrange meet-ups near the M25 if you're further afield.
How many dogs do you look after at once?
I keep groups small — typically up to 8 dogs maximum. This means every dog gets proper attention and isn't lost in a crowd.
What do I need to provide for boarding?
Just your dog's lead, any medication they need, and their favourite toy or blanket if they have one. Most customers provide their own food, but I can feed your dog for a small daily fee if needed.
Is there a trial day?
Yes! After our free home consultation, I always recommend a trial day so both you and your dog can see how they get on. It's the best way to make sure everyone's happy.
What happens in bad weather?
Dogs need exercise rain or shine! I have wet weather gear and the dogs still get their outdoor time — they usually don't mind the rain as much as we do. In extreme weather, we'll adapt activities as needed.
Are you insured?
Yes, I'm fully insured for dog walking, day care, and home boarding. I'm also canine first aid trained for peace of mind.
